Marcos Antonio Arias Quián
Born in Las Tunas in 1991, Marcos Antonio Arias Quián moved to Havana at the age of five, where he enrolled in visual arts workshops from an early age. This foundation led to his admission to the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts, shaping his lifelong passion for painting as a means to express philosophical and spiritual visions.
Guided by mentors Arturo Montoto and David Mateo, Marcos developed his distinctive style, showcased in his solo exhibition DePresiones, where the color red serves as a vital essence in his palette. His work has been exhibited in Cuba, Germany, the United States, the Dominican Republic, Spain, Poland, and reflects a deep engagement with existential themes.
“Painting has been the motive and illusion of my life, a way of expressing my philosophical and spiritual visions. I have crafted a language of color and form that speaks to the depths of the human spirit, embracing red as the lifeblood of my work, a vibrant thread that weaves together the tangible and the transcendent, inviting viewers to explore the mysteries of existence through each stroke of my brush.”
